In Todd's Desert Hiking Guide, he has a section on Arizona, with a subsection on Sycamore Creek. This would be the part of Sycamore Creek near the Beeline Highway. (Highway 87 becomes the Beeline Highway.) The page has a picture of the old steel water tank. Also, there is a picture of the Sycamore Creek itself. Apparently, there is some treacherous boulder-hopping necessary to get to the spot, so, wear excellent climbing shoes; not open-toed shoes.

In 100 Classic Hikes in Arizona, -by Scott S. Warren, the Pine Mountain Wilderness is mentioned, and the Prescott National Forest is shown on a map showing the Willow Spring Trail. The Sycamore Creek begins in the Prescott National Forest which is within the Pine Mountain Wilderness Area. This is Central Arizona, East of Phoenix. It is here that you will see the Ponderosa Pines. He describes a hike that will take you to Pine Mountain Summit. This trail follows Sycamore Creek, diverges a bit to take you to Pine Mountain, and then takes you to the origin of Sycamore Creek, depending on how you follow it. (ISBN: 0-89886-651-0.
