Hippie Hollow, TX

Hippie Hollow is on Lake Travis. Located in Austin, it is a County park in a beautiful, natural setting that reminds one of the steep, rugged California terrain. (Scraggly trees, steep drop-offs, curvy switchbacks, etc.)

Hippie Hollow is the only public park in Texas where nudity is permitted.

The man-made lake is a fabulous getaway from the Texas heat and can make a wonderful side track for a visit to what must be Texas' most liberal city. Nudity is not permitted in the parking lot, however. You have to wait until you enter the park.

This park has been a skinny dipping spot since the 1960s. Beware of the limestone cliffs. Please do not just jump into the water!

Every Memorial and Labor Day there are big splashes where boaters and swimmers alike celebrate near the shore. It is like what a rave atmosphere should be.

Extreme caution is advisable when on the dangerous cliffs that border the soothing lake waters. It is easy to become distracted. There are easy-going nudists soaking up the generous Texan rays, dished out in Texan portions.

This is a definite bathing-suit optional destination for those who are at least 18. No minors permitted.

Take Comanche Trail, off RM 620. This is 15 miles West of Austin.

Address: 7000 Comanche Tr, Austin, TX
